§ 2-92. Legal defense of officers and employees.

  • (a)

    On occasion, while in the performance of their official duties, the elected officials of the county and its employees are named as defendants in lawsuits. In order to support and protect its elected officials and employees from the cost of defending lawsuits, the board of commissioners has determined that a policy should be established to protect and defend the elected officials and employees.

    (b)

    The board of commissioners resolves that all lawsuits filed against any elected official or employee of the county that arise out of the performance of county duties shall be defended by the county at the county's cost and at no expense to the elected official or employee.
