§ 36-56. Speed limits established.

  • (a)

    Speed limits enumerated. Unless otherwise posted or listed in the county speed limit schedule, attached to the ordinance from which this article is derived, made a part of this article by reference and on file in the county offices, are as follows:

    (1)

    Local streets in residential subdivisions. The speed limits upon local streets within residential subdivisions in the county shall be 25 miles per hour.

    (2)

    Other local streets. The speed limits upon other local streets in the county shall be 35 miles per hour.

    (3)

    Collector roads. The speed limits upon collector roads in the county shall be 45 miles per hour.

    (4)

    Arterial roads. The speed limits upon arterial roads in the county shall be 55 miles per hour.

    (b)

    Listed roads. The lists of speed limits for specific roads which are attached to the ordinance from which this article is derived and made a part herein by reference and on file in the county offices, are as follows:

    (1)

    Part A is the list of roads approved for the use of speed detection devices.

    (2)

    Part B is an additional list of roads which the county has found to be in need of a speed limit different than listed in this section.

    The county may amend these lists by resolution at any time. Such speed limits shall be effective after inclusion on such list and after the posting of same on the designated road.
