§ 8-2. Penalties.

  • In addition to the specific penalties, fees, and/or costs separately provided for by the following sections of this chapter, any person convicted of a violation of this chapter shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000.00 or by confinement in the county jail for a period not to exceed six months or by both fine and confinement. Each act or omission in violation of this chapter shall constitute a separate offense. A separate offense shall be deemed committed upon each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues. In addition to any other penalties allowed by law, the court, as part of the sentence, may prohibit the offender from owning, possessing, or having on the offender's premises in the county any animal during the term of the sentence, may order for the animal to be removed from the county or humanely euthanized, and may order restitution. Applicable court costs shall be levied in addition to any fine imposed.
