§ 8. [Vice-chairperson.]

  • At the first regular meeting of each year, the board of commissioners shall elect from its members a vice-chairperson. In the event of death, disqualification or resignation of the chairperson, the vice-chairperson shall perform the duties and exercise the authority of the chairperson until a new chairperson is chosen as provided in this act [article]. The vice-chairperson shall preside at meetings of the board of commissioners in the absence of the chairperson and shall serve for the calendar year in which elected. In the event of a vacancy in the office of vice-chairperson, the board of commissioners shall elect a new vice-chairperson to serve for the remainder of the calendar year.
